"Hercules" Coming to Home Video November 4, 2014 - Theatrical and Extended Cut

Blu-ray Cover ArtworkThe adventure movie Hercules will be coming to home video on November 4, 2014, according to a recent press release from Paramount Home Media Distribution. It will also be available on Digital HD October 21st.

Starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in the title role, the movie opened in theaters July 25th, 2014 and is still in second-run locations around the country. The home video release comes 102 days after the theatrical release, which is about average.

Dolby Atmos Home logoThe Blu-ray editions will feature the movie in 1080p high definition (of course) and a Dolby TrueHD 7.1 with Dolby Atmos soundtrack. (This is Paramount's second Atmos release on Blu-ray, after Transformers: Age of Extinction)

Additional soundtracks include French 5.1 Dolby Digital, Spanish 5.1 Dolby Digital and English Audio Description and English, English SDH, French and Spanish subtitles. The DVD in the combo pack is presented in widescreen enhanced for 16:9 TVs with English 5.1 Dolby Digital, French 5.1 Dolby Digital, Spanish 5.1 Dolby Digital and English Audio Description and English, French and Spanish subtitles.

In addition to the theatrical version of the movie (98 minutes), the Blu-ray combo packs also provide an extended cut of the movie in 2D (101 minutes). The DVD that is available in the combo packs and separately is the theatrical cut only.

Each combo pack includes an UltraViolet™ Digital HD copy of the movie, so you can load it onto your phone and enjoy the movie wherever you are, as well as the following features:

  • Theatrical version in high definition
    • Commentary by director Brett Ratner and producer Beau Flynn
  • Extended cut in high definition (2D only)
  • Brett Ratner and Dwayne Johnson: An Introduction
  • Hercules and his Mercenaries—Delve into the story behind the team assembled by Hercules for his perilous missions and the skills required of them.
  • Weapons!—Exploration of the weapons created for the spectacular action scenes, including training with the actors.
  • The Bessi Battle—Discover how one of the major action sequences of the film was created with the filmmakers, actors, stunt team, make-up effects and more.
  • The Effects of Hercules—A behind-the-scenes look at the film’s spectacular visual effects.
  • 15 Deleted/Extended Scenes

List prices for the editions are $49.99 U.S. (Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack), $39.99 U.S. (Blu-ray Combo Pack), and $29.99 U.S. (DVD). Retail prices will be lower (Amazon's pre-order prices are 50-55% off right now), especially in the first week of release.

FYI: The Atmos soundtrack was not included when this title was released on Blu-ray, for unspecified reasons.
