The Main Street Cinemas in Yuma, Arizona closed after the last movies on September 19, 2014.

The Yuma Sun published an article recently about the closure:

The eight-screen movie house closed its doors Thursday night, announced representatives of Main Street Cinemas. The theater is owned by Q & M Entertainment LLC, a joint venture of the Quechan Indian Tribe and managing partner Blue Diamond Entertainment LLC, whose members include Dennis and Cassandra Metz of Tarzana, Calif.

Friday, paper had been placed over the windows for the box office and movie posters promoting upcoming attractions for the shuttered theater had all been removed.

“It was necessary to close Main Street Cinemas as the theater operation was no longer viable,” tribal representative Clivia Cyndee Miller said in a news release late Thursday.

“We thank our loyal patrons and our employees who made many great memories with us over the years,” she said.

That leaves just the Harkins Yuma Palms 14 for moviegoers in Yuma. The next closest theater is 50 miles away.
