A groundbreaking ceremony was held June 18, 2013 for a new Galaxy Theatres location in Spark, Nevada. The 12-screen movie theater, which will include an IMAX auditorium, is scheduled to open in 2014, and will be located at the Outlet at Legends shopping center.

Rafe Cohen, President of Galaxy Theatres was quoted in the press release as saying:

“We’ve had our eye on the northern Nevada market foryears, and are thrilled to be making the region’s first IMAX theatre a reality at the Outlets at Legends. We feel it will become an integral part of the community, providing a state-of-the-art entertainment option, plus a venue for everything from school and corporate functions to special events.”

The closest movie theater is the Century Sparks and XD, which is about two miles away. The IMAX auditorium will be the first for the area, with the next closest location two hours away in Sacramento, California.
