With the release of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug on December 13, 2013, the hype engine is starting to get into gear. One of the announcements we've been waiting for is about the release of the original motion picture soundtrack for the movie, which features the music of Academy Award winner Howard Shore, who also scored the first movie, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, as well as all three movies in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy.

The soundtrack will be available in stores on December 10, 2013, and it comes in two editions. Both come on two CD's, but the Special Edition will have extended versions of some of the tracks that are on the standard edition, as well as extra bonus tracks.
