The Montgomery Cinema ’N’ Drafthouse is set to open in a few weeks, according to an article in the Washington Business Journal:

When you enter the under-construction Montgomery Cinema ’N’ Drafthouse in Wheaton, it is hard to imagine the place will have a soft opening in less than two weeks.

With theaters lacking seats, walls still unpainted and an empty kitchen, it looks like, well, a gutted building.

But owner Greg Godbout is confident.

“The kitchen is the only thing really worrying us,” he said, noting that a health permit is still needed to open this month.

Godbout expects the inside of the theaters will be finished by Sept. 13. The building is crammed with items waiting to find their place — comfortable black leather chairs, lots of kitchen equipment (some of it acquired from the recently shuttered PGA Tour Grill in Rockville).

The $2 million project is Godbout’s first attempt to take his popular Arlington Cinema ’N’ Drafthouse, which he has owned since 2005, and turn it into an operation with multiple outlets and eventually a national brand.

“We want this to be the flagship for all our Drafthouse properties,” Godbout said.
