AMC Theatres announced today the 5th annual AMC Best Picture Showcase, which is a two-day event that presents all ten movies nominated in the "Best Picture" category for the upcoming Academy Awards ceremony.
The ten movies will be shown on Saturday, February 19th and Saturday, February 26th, 2011 at 113 AMC Theatres locations around the country. Fifteen of those theaters will be hosting a 24-hour marathon, where guests can watch all ten movies in a row!
"AMC has a deep history of innovation and we brought the idea to our studio partners, who were happy to collaborate with us on the AMC Best Picture Showcase," said Stephen Colanero, executive vice president and chief marketing officer at AMC. "These are some of the most celebrated movies of the year, and we recognize that not everyone has seen all 10. Or many movie fans would perhaps like to see them again to analyze scenes, pick up on nuances or just to share the experience with someone new. There is no better way to view these films than on the big screen, and we're pleased to offer our guests this exclusive opportunity."
This event has been detailed in these pages before, in 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010.

I wish I had an AMC theatre in my town. Some of the Best picture nominated Oscars are worth seeing again.
I like movies a lot, but I can't imagine watching 5 in a row, much less 10!
