The Smitty's Windham Cinema & Pub in Windham, Maine has opened in the space formerly occupied by the Windham Five Star Cinema 7, which closed January 5, 2013. The theater closed because its owner did not want to upgrade the seven-screen operation to Digital Cinema Projection systems, but Smitty's has come in and done just that. They are hoping to open an eighth screen next year.
According to some news articles that were found, Smitty's operated the theater that we have in our records as Chunky's Windham Cinema & Pub, which was located just down the road. That theater closed in 2005 due to competition from the Windham Five Star Cinema 7. so now everything has come around full-circle.
