Paramount Home Media Distribution announced yesterday that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be released on Blu-ray, DVD, and Video on Demand December 16, 2014. It will also be available on Digital HD November 25th.
The movie was released in theaters on August 8, 2014, so the time period between the releases is a longish 130 days. It's still playing in first-run theaters, and appeared at #10 on the Box Office Report for this past weekend.
For more information about the movie, including a plot summary, cast listing, trailers and videos, photos, reviews, and more, head over to the Movie Information page!
Ninja Turtle fans will be able to choose from three options (with links to Amazon.com to pre-order):
Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD Combo Pack
Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD Combo Pack
The Blu-ray editions will feature the movie in 1080p high definition (of course) and a Dolby TrueHD 7.1 with Dolby Atmos soundtrack. (This is Paramount's third Atmos release on Blu-ray, after Transformers: Age of Extinction and Hercules)
Additional soundtracks include French 5.1 Dolby Digital, Spanish 5.1 Dolby Digital, Portuguese 5.1 Dolby Digital and English Audio Description and English, English SDH, French, Spanish and Portuguese subtitles. The DVD in the combo pack is presented in widescreen enhanced for 16:9 TVs with English 5.1 Dolby Digital, French 5.1 Dolby Digital, Spanish 5.1 Dolby Digital and English Audio Description and English, French, Spanish and Portuguese subtitles.
Each combo pack includes an UltraViolet™ Digital HD copy of the movie, so you can load it onto your phone and enjoy this cinematic masterpiece wherever you are, as well as the following extras:
- Digital Reality
- In Your Face! The Turtles in 3D
- It Ain’t Easy Being Green
- Evolutionary Mash-Up
- Turtle Rock
- Extended Ending
- “Shell Shocked” Music Video
- Making of “Shell Shocked”
Specially marked Combo Packs will include two reversible masks "featuring all four signature colors of the beloved crime fighters." The masks will be limited in supply and when they're gone, you'll be looking on eBay... The press release also mentions that there will be retailer-specific versions with collectible packaging and other premiums, so keep an eye out for those to be announced by each retailer as the release date approaches.
The single-disc standard-definition DVD is the bare-bones entrant, so there's not much else to say there besides that it has a 5.1 Dolby Digital soundtrack. Given the low price difference between the Blu-ray Combo Pack and the DVD, I'm not sure why anyone would choose the latter, but it's there if you really want to pay almost as much for much less.

List prices for the editions are $52.99 U.S. (Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack), $39.99 U.S. (Blu-ray Combo Pack), and $29.99 U.S. (DVD). Retail prices will be lower (Amazon's pre-order prices are 50-55% off right now), especially in the first week of release.
