The Angelika Film Center & Cafe in San Diego, California is set to open Friday, October 9, 2015, according to a recent press release issued by parent company Reading International, Inc. The movie theater is located in the Carmel Mountain Plaza at 11620 Carmel Mountain Road, and was previously the Reading Cinemas Carmel Mountain 12 until it closed earlier this year.

This is the first Angelika Film Center in California. The company has other locations in New York, Texas, Virginia, and Washington DC. The press release mentions that the theater will offer "diverse programming and a creative menu of craft beverages and bites." The initial lineup for its twelve screens includes mainstream fare, such as Pan and The Walk, as well as more arthouse-style movies, including He Named Me Malala and Freeheld.

The treatments will be upscale, with Los Angeles-based designer Fred Dagdagan designing the open lobby, outdoor patio, hardwood flooring, and a three-tiered chandelier. Seating in the auditoriums will be reclining luxury seats, with Digital Cinema Projection systems backed up by Dolby 7.1 channel audio systems.

Food offerings will come from Food Network Executive Bruce Seidel of Hot Lemon Productions and Chef Santos Loo, including craft beverages, potato chip crusted chicken tenders, and kale grilled cheese with tomato jam. Even the popcorn is described as "artisan" and the hot dogs are labeled as "gourmet."

If you would like to reserve your seat for opening weekend, head over to the Showtimes page to find a movie and a showtime, and purchase your tickets online!
