Most likely in anticipation of the upcoming release of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" this summer, the first four movies in the series are seeing their final days on retailers' shelves.
Last summer, Warner Home Video made known that they were going to be placing "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets," and "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" on moratorium on December 29, 2006. "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" would meet the same fate in late January or early February.
The first date has come and gone, and I was still able to find the DVDs at Amazon.com, but there are notes attached to the listings that say that the movies are going to be available only as long as their stock holds out.
"Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" is scheduled for theatrical release on July 13, 2007. Warner Home Video announced at CES earlier this month that they were going to be releasing the entire Harry Potter series on the HD DVD and Blu-ray high definition disc formats some time in 2007, so it's likely that this moratorium is in preparation for getting some mileage from the future releases (hopefully surrounding the release of "Phoenix").
Assuming that their availability is truly limited, you will want to pick these movies up soon if you were thinking of getting them in the next several months. The second-hand market has never been kind price-wise when it comes to movies that have gone on moratorium, so in case these movies aren't released later this year, now is the best chance to get them for a decent price. See below for each title a link to purchasing each on Amazon.com.
The first three movies are less than $10, so they're quite a bargain! You can also save money by buying all four in one set:
