Academy members from each of the branches vote to determine the nominees in their respective categories – actors nominate actors, film editors nominate film editors, etc. In the Animated Feature Film and Foreign Language Film categories, nominations are selected by vote of multi-branch screening committees. All voting members are eligible to select the Best Picture nominees.

The ceremony for the Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2013, at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood, California. It will be televised on ABC beginning at 7pm Eastern Time (4pm Pacific Time).

Below is a list of all the categories and the nominations for each. To see the list sorted by movie, see 2013 Academy Award Nominations - By Movie.

I caught the Oscar Announcement and usual most the movies got left out of the cold. I was hoping that "The Hunger Games" at least get only one nomination for anything. "The Avengers" gpot only one nomination. they're lucky they got that. I'd rather see "Dr. Seuess' the Lorax" get an Oscar nomination for Best Animination Movie rather than "The Pirates:A Band of Misfits." As of right now I saw seven of the nine Oscar nominated moves for Best Picture. I'll see "Zero Dark thirty" sometime this week. I'm still waiting on "Amour." I don't know whatever or not that movie will come to Kalamazoo. I'm gong to watch The Academy Awards on Feb. 24th. That is also my birthday.
