While it was slow at times it is still a good movie to see. The best part is the relationship between Ada and Ruby.

Uneven story, with the good outweighing the boring. Good cast, though Zellweger just wasn\'t convincing enough. Better for a movie freak than for a casual movie fan.

Don't expect this to be a happy, uplifting civil war movie. The love story is bittersweet and the portrayal of the war is gripping. The story, or the rather the separate stories of Ada and Inman are excellent, as is the acting on all parts.

Romantic to the very end. Definitely worth seeing.

\"Cold Mountain\" is Anthony Minghella\'s follow up to the 1997 film \"the english Patient.\" The film takes place during the Civil War and involves two people (Jude Law, Nicole Kidman) who are in love and whom are seperated by the Civil War. This isn\'t the first time that a film about the Civil War has taken the point of view of southeners. \"Gone With the Wind\" had a similiar southerner point of view. Law went off the fight while Kidman stayed home. she later had help from a farm hand, played by Renee Zellweger. The chemistry between the women worked very well. I hope that those two get an MTV Movie Award nominee for best duo, because I\'m not going to vote for Will Smith and Martin Lawrence for \"Bad Boys 2.\" During one battle Law became a deserter and he made his way home to Kidman. the film has everything including powerful acting and great cinematoghy from John Seale. I admired the music score by Gabriel Yared. The film is wroth seeing and wroth recommending.

I enjoyed the story. I thought Renee Zellweger was funny. I enjoyed her character the most.
