I walked into this film not knowing at all what to expect and left thinking...."WOW!" This was an emotionally moving film. It is refreshing to see a cast of fresh faces. I am a regular movie-goer and this ranks up there in one of my favorite films ever.

I read some good things about this film. I really wanted to like it, but it misses. The acting was average and the story was not moving for me.

One of the best movies from this year. A inspiration that came from the heart. "Whale Rider" is a film which challenges sterotypes, especially it involves a girl who has the heart to become whatever she wants to be. By the way, her goal is chief of the tribe, inwhich her grandfather opposes on ground that she's a girl, not a boy. The girl is played by Keisha Castle-Hughes in a major breakthough performance. All I can say about this film is Castle-Huighes has caught a wave and she's sitting ontop of the world.
