Jack Black can be just as good in a independant movie than in a blockbuster movie. "Bernie" is based on a true story that was told in a Texas magazine about a Funeral home owner who was push around by a demanding unpopular widow played by Shirley Maclaine. He coudn't take it anymore and he shot her to death. The performances by Black and Maclaine are fun to watch. They have great chemistry. Out of this movie I learned a lot about Texas and Funeral Homes. Shirley MacLaine has been on the big screen since the 1950's and she is still there some 60 years later. Later this year she will recieve the American Film Insititute Lifetime Achevement Awards.I Had to get it out there. I'll be watching to see her get that award on Television.
