Letter From an Unknown Woman
Max Ophuls’ finest American film is about the unrequited life-long passion of a woman (Joan Fontaine) for a famed concert pianist (Louis Jourdain). The story unfolds through a complex structure of flashbacks as the pianist reads a letter from the mysterious woman, all on the eve of a duel he is trying to evade.
