Where does private property end and public expression begin? There's a new breed of obsessive-compulsive early-risers out there – anti-graffiti vigilantes (known as "buffers"). These dedicated blight warriors will stop at nothing to rid their neighborhoods and cities of street art, stickers, tags and posters.
Stare into the graffiti long enough, though, and the graffiti stares back at you – these self-proclaimed protectors of the public space have turned to illegally and destructively painting other people's property. Soon, buffers and taggers are locked in a perpetual, paint-stained battle of wills.
VIGILANTE VIGILANTE is the story of two filmmakers who set out to discover what makes these mysterious men tick, and sheds light on a battle of expression that stretches from back alleys to city councils to the halls of academia.
