Theater History

According to a submission to the web site Cinema Treasures, the Rivoli opened in 1936. The building was originally a general store built by Friedrich Boerner in the 1880's. Mark Morgan and his family owned and operated the theater for approximately 20 years. The theater was operated by Marcus Theatres Corp. from some time in the 1950's until 2006, when it was sold to the Cedarburg Landmark Preservation Society Inc.

Marcus closed the theater on December 19, 2006 and the Society plans on re-opening it on December 29, 2006.

Date Opened: January 11, 1936 with "A Tale of Two Cities" starring Ronald Coleman.
